College Baseball Fans Loved LSU Player’s Epic No. 2 Pencil Bat

LSU Tigers baseball star Hayden Travinski debuted a brand new bat on Thursday during the program’s tilt against Northern Illinois, strolling into the batter’s box with a bat that resembled a No. 2 Dixon Ticonderoga pencil.

Travinski, who plays catcher for the Tigers and also serves as the team’s designated hitter, showed off his new bat during the team’s 10–2 win on Thursday. He went 1-for-4 at the plate with a pair of strikeouts.

“If they hit hard with the pencil bat, I’m a fan. If they get out, I don’t like it,” said Tigers coach Jay Johnson regarding his team using the No. 2 pencil bat, via ESPN SWLA’s Matt Miguez

Just last season, Philadelphia Phillies star Bryson Stott used a similar No. 2 pencil bat during the Phillies’ appearance in the 2023 MLB Little League Classic. Travinski showed off his similar bat on Thursday, and baseball fans were absolutely loving the creative approach at the plate from the student athlete.
