Caitlin Clark Reveals Just How Difficult WNBA Decision Was During ‘GMA’ Appearance
Caitlin Clark’s decision to enter the WNBA draft this year could have gone differently, as the Iowa star had one year of college eligibility left. Therefore, Clark had to make the difficult choice about her future, ultimately opting to start the next chapter of her career.
On Thursday, Clark spoke with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America to explain the thought process behind her decision to join the WNBA.
“I think there were pros and cons to both sides. And that’s what made the decision so difficult,” Clark said. “I’m just kind of ready for the next chapter and a new challenge in my life. And what I’ve been able to do here has been very, very special. But I think the reason I decided to announce it when I did was just to have that closure.”
Clark had the pressure of being the most popular player in college basketball, as well as becoming the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader, so fans all over the country care about where she will play next season. Therefore, it is logical that she wouldn’t want this decision hanging over her head entering the NCAA tournament later this month.
The Iowa point guard is widely expected to be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft on April 15 to the Indiana Fever. Before that, though, Clark will have a chance to end her college career with a national championship.
