Five-Star SG Max Christie Had ‘Great’ Official to Michigan State
Three days after his first-ever official visit, Rolling Meadows (Ill.) junior shooting guard Max Christie said he could “definitely feel the Spartan love.”
Christie visited Michigan State for its win over Ohio State last weekend.

“The atmosphere was just great,” said Christie, a five-star prospect. “They did a great job of showing me what being a Spartan was all about, and I got to build a stronger bond with the coaches. I didn’t know what to expect with it being my first official, but I had a great time.”
As it stands, Christie doesn’t have any other official visits set up, but holds offers from multiple schools like Duke, Michigan, Virginia and Villanova, among many others.
“I’m just gonna go with the flow,” Christie said. “I have a lot of time left with my recruitment and this is my last AAU season. I just want to work on improving my game and hanging out with the guys. When the time comes I’ll take the visits I need to take and talk to the people I need to talk to in order to make the best decision for me.”
Christie said that he’s in the process of thinking through a timetable for a commitment down the line but has yet to finalize those plans.
“I’m talking to coaches pretty much every day just building a relationship in general,” Christie said. “We talk a lot about where they see me playing and how they would use me.”

Christie is versatile enough to play both guard positions with the ability to run an offense and guard multiple positions because of his 6-foot-6, 170-pound frame.
Christie scores on all three levels and is an absolute marksman from the perimeter.
“It all starts with shooting for me,” Christie said. “The whole floor opens up for me when I’m shooting. I have a lot of aspects to my game, but shooting is the primary key to opening up the rest of my game.”
This season, Christie averaged 26 points a game and shot 43 percent from the 3-point line. He also managed 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks a game and led the Mustangs to their first 20-win season since 1990-91.
“It was a big year for us, but I still didn’t get the state title,” said Christie, who will run with the Illinois Wolves on the Under Armour Association. “That’s gonna fuel me this spring and summer. I just want to get better and win as many games as possible. That’s always the goal.”
