One of the world's oldest rivalries is looking to move to the cricket pitch, as the Vatican has announced it is forming a team and has issued a challenge to the Anglican church.

The Catholic Church will sponsor a cricket tournament among seminaries from across the world, and will then select the best players from those games as the 'Vatican XI', who they hope will face off against the Anglican church at the aptly named Lord's Cricket Ground in London, a place known as "the home of cricket".

It is a real shame that the new papal cricket side wont have access to the late Pope John Paul II's services though. He was a real natural with the bat.
