Listen to the Sweet Melodies of the NHL Trade Deadline

With fake Twitter reports and fan meltdowns, the culture surrounding the NHL trade deadline can often be bad-weird. TSN's coverage of the trade deadline yesterday, though, was refreshingly good-weird. In an effort to lighten a usually needlessly tense day, the Canadian sports station enlisted local musician Lester McLean to riff off the day's news musically on the bongos and acoustic guitar.

This bold marriage of improvisational soft rock and hockey trade gossip reached its apex when McLean played a song about Calgary Flames acting GM Brian Burke's notoriously loose tie to Burke (and his untied tie):

Another highlight was a song about the cruel irony of trading bear-fearing Ilya Bryzgalov to the Wild:
