MMA Ref Stops Fight by Putting Fighter in a Chokehold

Tuesday May 13th, 2014

MMA is a sport that's so tough, even the refs have to be expert fighters. In this fight between Nathias Frederick and Ahmad Aswad, referee Leon Roberts had to jump in to restrain Frederick after he continued to punch an already knocked-out Aswad. The action starts around the 6:30 mark.

Roberts pulled Frederick off Aswad and held him while the fighter calmed down. The announcer commented, "Leon Roberts with the sleekest back take I have ever seen from an official." I hate to think what the non-sleek back takes looked like.
