We found this adorable shot of Peyton Manning while taking a trip through the SI vault. We don't have a lot of information about this photo -- the full caption just says "Casual portrait of Former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning posing in shoulder pads during photo shoot on UT campus. Knoxville, TN 4/2/1998."

That leaves so many questions unanswered. Was Peyton hitchhiking? If so, why was he doing it in a photo studio? Was he trying to give a thumbs up? Why does he look so sassy? Where did that chair come from?

One thing's for certain -- it's probably good that Peyton became a football player and not a model.
