Capitals' Alex Ovechkin goes on surprise date with 10-year-old fan

Alex Ovechkin took one of his biggest fans out on a surprise sushi date on Sunday, after she and her family had watched the team's final preseason game thanks to free tickets from him.

Ovechkin first met 10-year-old Ann Schaab a few weeks earlier at an event for the Washington Ice Dogs, a hockey team she plays on for local developmentally disabled children, where she boldly asked the star if he would like to go out for sushi that night.

The center's busy schedule forced him to pass on the date but he made it up to Ann over the weekend.

Ann got to drive to the arena with Ovechkin, who she asked not to get pulled over for speeding, according to The Washington Post, and she sat on the bench with the players during warmups.

After the game the pair went into a booth in the owner's suite, where Ovi introduced coach Barry Trotz to his new girlfriend before the two finally got a chance to dig in to some sushi.

Monumental Network has video of Ann's and Ovi's amazing day, and it is definitely worth watching.
