A University of South Florida student committee's oversight may result in a sea of the opponent's colors in the stands at the team's homecoming game on Saturday.

The student committee in charge of this year's homecoming shirt ordered 1,200 purple tees and had handed out approximately 200 before someone pointed out that the Bulls' homecoming opponent, East Carolina, wears purple as well.

The committee has purchased an additional 1,000 T-shirts in the school's preferred green, after the $5,600 purple error, and school officials told the USF Oraclethat students should try to avoid the shirts at the game.

“We really want to be in green,” Center for Student Involvement Director Monica Miranda said. “The opposing team’s color is purple, so we don’t want to be in purple.”
