Brett Favre was not the first choice for There's Something About Mary

Despite the various passing records and MVPs and Super Bowls, the highlight of Brett Favre's NFL career is undoubtedly his cameo in the hit 1998 comedy There's Something About Mary, but he recently learned that he was not the first quarterback on the Farrelly Brothers wish list for the role.

Despite the various passing records and MVPs and Super Bowls, the highlight of Brett Favre's NFL career is undoubtedly his cameo in the hit 1998 comedy There's Something About Mary. But the gunslinger recently learned that he was not the first quarterback on the Farrelly brothers' wish list for the role.

The directing duo stopped by The Rich Eisen Show, where they were reunited with Favre via satellite, and the New England natives admitted that Favre was their third choice for the now legendary role as Cameron Diaz's most eligible suitor.

The pair tried to get Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe and 49ers quarterback Steve Young before turning to Favre. The three-time MVP joked "If I had known that I never would have done it" when he was informed that he was not at the top of the list.
