Kentucky coach John Calipari called for a substitution by dancing.
A lot has been made about Kentucky's substitutions patterns this season. Head coach John Calipari announced before the season that he would use two five-man platoon systems, which has so far served the Wildcats well on the way to a 6-0 start.
What Calipari didn't warn was how he might call for a substitution. And against UT Arlington on Tuesday, he opted for what looked more like a dance when subbing in freshman Trey Lyles for Alex Poythress. Coach Cal may also have been channeling his inner Leslie Nielsen in Naked Gun as a baseball umpire.
The sub came after Kentucky built up an early first-half lead, and the second unit that Calipari brought in gave up three straight turnovers. He switched his starters back in before switching again and bringing in Lyles of the second-unit. Confused yet?
The Wildcats went on to take a 55-12 halftime lead and won 92-44.
