The Minnesota Timberwolves offered a touching tribute to Thaddeus Young's recently deceased mother on Wednesday night, with all of the players wearing pink shoelaces to support breast cancer awareness.

Young missed five games to be with his family following his mother Lula's death at age 57 following a 18-month battle with the disease, and returned to the team on Monday.

The NBA approved the team's show of support for Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Young spoke to The Associated Press earlier this week about his mother's role in his life.

“I want to take this opportunity to remind my NBA brothers, colleagues and fans of the importance of regular breast exams and mammograms. Please encourage the woman in your lives – the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts and girlfriends – to get screened for breast cancer.”
