New SMU football coach Chad Morris went straight to Whataburger

SMU introduced Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris as its next head coach Monday and he made sure to lead with the most important thing at his press conference.

SMU introduced Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris as its next head coach Monday and he made sure to lead with the most important thing at his press conference.

Clemson was Morris' only coaching stop without a Whataburger franchise, so his excitement is understandable. He was born and raised in Texas, went to college at Texas A&M and spent 15 years coaching high school ball there, so he was always within striking distance of the Texas-based burger chain. His first college job was in 2010 at Tulsa, which has six Whataburger franchises.

But when Morris took over at Clemson, he was four hours from Trussville, Alabama, and the nearest Whataburger location.

Morris is promising young coach with a long future ahead of him. He could end up anywhere once he's done at SMU, as long as they have a Whataburger.
