Swedish hockey fan wants to replace injured ref

Monday December 29th, 2014

A ref was injured in the middle of a game in the Swedish Hockey League and it appeared he might not be able to continue his duties. Luckily a fan in the stands showed that he was more than ready to jump on the ice.

This must really be the dream scenario for a fan wearing a referees jersey to a game. What other reason would there be to attend a hockey match and support only the refs and not pick a side.

The clip unfortunately cuts out before we get to see if the fan actually gets to jump onto the ice, but it is clear that he would be properly warmed up if he ever did get called down to help out the officials.
