NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is publishing his first novel, titled Mycroft Holmes, in the fall of 2015. The book will focus on its title character, the reclusive elder brother of famed literary detective Sherlock Holmes.

The New York Times reports that the novel, which the Hall of Famer wrote with screenwriter Anna Waterhouse, will be set primarily on the island of Trinidad, where Mycroft heads to find out who is behind a series of murders and disappearances.

Abdul-Jabbar said in a press release that he is a longtime fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Holmes stories and became captivated with Mycroft after reading Enter the Lion: A Posthumous Memoir of Mycroft Holmes.

“I realized more could be done with this ‘older, smarter’ character and his window onto the highest levels of British government — at a time when Britain was the most powerful country in the world.”
