UAB offering 'History of College Football' class after cutting football

UAB's history department may be hearing cries of "too soon" on the school's next registration day, as it is offering a summer course called "History of College Football" following the school's controversial decision to end its football program.

The class, which promises to be "a fascinating ride into one of the most important expressions of popular culture in modern America," will also look at how money has affected the game's growth around the country.

UAB became the first FBS school to drop football since Pacific did so in 1995, after a study of the school,s financial situation found Blazers football to no longer be economically viable.
