What's an injured rookie to do in the last game of an 18–63 season? Adopting player-coach duties is a solid move.

That's what Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid did Wednesday night during his squad's season finale against the Miami Heat.

With both teams out of the playoff picture, this game was bound to be a tank-off. But Embiid—already renowned for being one of the loosest, most hilarious players in the NBA—actually seemed to take his X's & O's responsibility seriously.

That's second-year player Hollis Thompson who Embiid grabs, showing he's not afraid to get the attention of a [slightly] more experienced teammate.

Embiid was just as serious before the game, looking locked-in while sinking four consecutive three-pointers from the corner.

Embiid missed the duration of his rookie season after having surgery last summer to treat a broken bone in his foot.
