Sacramento Kings rib ESPN before draft lottery with Deflategate joke

Wednesday May 20th, 2015

The Sacramento Kings called out ESPN for its incessant Deflategate coverage with a deflated ping pong ball joke in the run up to Tuesday's NBA draft lottery.

Thankfully, air time devoted to the Tom Brady football deflation saga on the network will have to cease - if only temporarily - for ESPN's live coverage of the lottery this evening at 8:30 p.m. ET. Sacramento has a 6.3% chance of landing the top pick in the drawing.

But nonetheless, the Kings wanted to make sure that Tuesday night's equipment, like the ping pong balls and the lottery drawing hopper, were all in working order. So the team tweeted this to ESPN's NBA account. (ESPN did not respond to the tweet).

Let's hope ESPN didn't take offense to the joke. I guess we'll know if they did if the cameras cut away from team presenter Vlade Divac too soon.
