Alabama coach Nick Saban claims he caught six-foot, 180-pound fish

Saban credited "mental toughness" for helping him deal with the tarpon.

The college football season is 100 days away, and while that's cause for excitement, we still have a lot of time to kill before the 2015 campaign gets underway. Alabama coach Nick Saban seems to be making the most of his time away from the field.

On Tuesday, Saban revealed to reporters at the SEC meetings in Florida that he caught a 180-pound, six-foot long fish on Monday.

Saban said the tarpon gave him some trouble, tossing him against the boat.

"I hung in there," Saban said, according to SI.com's Andy Staples. "It's called mental toughness."

Who knew that Nick Saban moonlighted as Ernest Hemingway in the off-season?
