The tiny nation of San Marino is trash-talking Cristiano Ronaldo

San Marino hasn’t won an international match since 2004, but they’ve scored more goals this month than Cristiano Ronaldo.

It’s all about the little victories for San Marino.

The tiny republic hasn’t won an international match since 2004, but at least they’ve scored more goals this month than Cristiano Ronaldo.

On the surface, a 2–1 loss to Lithuania isn’t anything to write home about. But the goal was the first one the San Marinese scored in 34 away matches, so they got a little cocky.

Americans play wrong anthem for winning Russian wrestler

The 24-square mile nation is located surrounded entirely by Italy and has roughly 32,000 residents. The national soccer team is downright awful, having won just one game, in April 2004 against the similarly miniscule principality of Liechtenstein. Ronaldo, meanwhile, is arguably the most recognizable player in the world.

If Cristiano wants to fire back at the San Marinese, he can just point out that he never went on strike two weeks before a big qualifying match
