A Washington, D.C., charity that provides educational services for homeless children got a big boost over the weekend in the form of a $400,000 donation from Wizards star John Wall.

The Bright Beginnings center currently serves around 162 children a day in the nation’s capital, and hopes to open a second facility, which would allow it to help another 100 children in need, thanks in part to Wall’s generous gift, according to the Washington City Paper.

Bright Beginnings executive director Dr. Betty Jo Gaines thanked the point guard for his contribution on the organization’s Facebook page.

“Support from individuals like Mr. Wall, gives Bright Beginnings the encouragement to continue to provide comprehensive services for homeless children in the District of Columbia. It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in DC and he wants theses children to succeed.”

The charity began in 1991 and provides childcare and a safe learning environment for preschool-aged and younger children who are living in homeless shelters.
