Ryan’s son Seth serves as the holder and wide receiver for the No. 1 Clemson Tigers, which explains why Ryan is supporting them, although it does not explain why he felt the need to wear protective head gear to a non-contact press conference.

Jets safety Calvin Pryor was not impressed by the stunt.

Once the coach took the helmet off he addressed the controversy over his selection of IK Enemkpali as a team captain for Buffalo’s Thursday game against New York. Enemkpali, of course, was cut by the Jets after breaking Geno Smith’s jaw in a locker room fight.
