Draft Adam Wainwright to your fantasy team, or he will be mad at you

Pitchers and catchers don’t report until next month, but fantasy baseball fans are already getting themselves prepared for the 2016 campaign with a group of experts on Sirius XM getting together for a very early draft this week.

While you may not think a baseball player would have much interest in pretend baseball, especially during the off-season, it turns out Adam Wainwright caught wind of the draft and was not too pleased with being the 22nd pitcher selected, according to Larry Brown Sports.

Wainwright called the radio station after the selection process was done to joke with the hosts about their supposed baseball acumen.

“If these are so-called experts doing this draft, maybe guys should start looking for another occupation,” Wainwright argued. “I came back after Achilles surgery in five months. You show me an old guy that’s able to do that. I still feel young. I’m feeling young. All you guys that passed on me, I’m gonna make you regret that decision.”

The Cardinals pitcher also teased the experts that he would be using his seventh-round selection as fuel going into spring training.
