Last month a young Blue Jackets fan earned a dog on her birthday after making a deal with her father that the family would purchase a pet if Cam Atkinson scored a goal at the game they attended.

In fact, Atkinson poured in three goals that night for what is likely the league’s first dog-inspired hat trick.

Now Cam Atkinson the hockey player has come face to face with Cam the canine.

Oddly enough the night before Atkinson earned the girl a puppy, Bobby Ryan of the Senators earned a fan a puppy himself with a goal against the Rangers.
