Which players should join LeBron James in Space Jam 2?
LeBron James will reportedly star in Space Jam 2, which is incredible news for basketball fans. James, who has shown off his acting skills in Trainwerck and his show Survivor’s Remorse, will likely fill the role that Michael Jordan played in the original film.
In addition to Jordan, fellow NBA players Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson, Muggsy Bogues, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing had roles in the original movie. Who will replace Bradley, LJ, Muggsy, Chuck and Ewing in the sequel? We’ve got some ideas.

Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan
Come on, man. Get 'em both in the movie.
Back in 2014, Griffin and Jordan did a live read of Space Jam for “Funny or Die” and absolutely crushed it. Griffin, who appeared in a commercial for Jordan Brand with a Looney Tunes character, said last summer that he’d be interested in appearing in the sequel. He and DeAndre have powers ripe to be stolen by villains in the movie (freakish athleticism and dunking ability), and you can probably expect to see at least Griffin in the film.
Carmelo Anthony
Melo’s the type of household name and perennial All-Star that would work well in the movie. He’s got a desirable skillset (score lots of points) that just about anyone would swipe from him if they had the chance. Maybe he’s such an obvious thought because of his Warner Bros. tattoo, which actually stands for West Baltimore.
Elena Delle Donne
The Chicago Sky star is the reigning league MVP. She's also outspoken, not shy to discuss sexism and supporting lowering the rims in WNBA to encourage more dunking. As one of the biggest stars in the league, she's a natural fit for the film.
Russell Westbrook
He has the game of a villain, with ferocious dunks and seemingly-impossible explosiveness. Plus, he’s a very marketable figure.
Kristaps Porzingis
We need a Shawn Bradley. Three Six Latvia blocks shots and rebounds, and would work well with LeBron as long as James forgives him for dunking on Kevin Love.
Zach LaVine
Maybe because of his Space Jam dunk contest dunk, and his notable high-flying ability, the young Wolves guard can sneak in the film.
Breanna Stewart
The UConn women's team was the talk of the country in March as Stewart led the team to a fourth straight title. So why not take the former Huskie and 2016 No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft? Like Delle Donne, Stewart was just selected to her first Olympic team—so a slot on a Space Jam squad seems like the next logical step.
Isaiah Thomas
Thomas is one of the smaller, more entertaining players in the league. If they’re casting another Muggsy Bogues, then the Celtics point guard is the choice.
DeMarcus Cousins
His nickname is Boogie, he wears a purple uniform, and he dunks on people. He’s a real-life Monstar.

Kobe Bryant
If Kobe can physically take making this movie, and doesn’t want to spend retirement on a beach somewhere, then of course he’d be good. He’d nail his lines.
