J.R. Smith’s organization launches reality show kickstarter during Finals

Smack dab in the middle of the NBA Finals, J.R. Smith’s organization, Team Swish, has launched a kickstarter to try to secure funds for a new reality show.

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard is aiming to star in a “scripted reality show” about his playing career, various adventures, and large family. The campaign’s goal is to raise $450,000 by August 4, and as of Monday evening, it had $405 from 14 backers.

Team Swish released a trailer for the show, along with some assorted details.

“There’s never been a better time to follow this controversial sports celebrity,” the campaign page reads. “He’s truly a great guy, misunderstood; and he is playing in the NBA Finals.”

But wait, there’s more! According to the kickstarter, J.R. plans on getting married after the Finals!

J.R. proposed to his short-time girlfriend, Shirley, which took everyone by surprise. The wedding is after the finals (which we have permission to film) ... J.R. has promised that he will get married after the finals. Which means he has to get his team through the finals first!

If you were at all skeptical about the listing, giving its timing and the fact that Smith has not promoted it on his social media accounts, Mashable was able to confirm that the listing did, indeed, come from Smith’s camp. Thank goodness that’s true, because the world would be a better place with an entire show about J.R. Smith.

The Cavaliers, down 2–0 to the Warriors, play Game 3 on Wednesday night in Cleveland.
