Yankees minor league team will become the Pierogies for one night

The Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders have a pretty run-of-the-mill mascot for a minor league team for the majority of the season, but for one glorious night they will rocket to the top of the team name rankings when they transform into the Pierogies.

The team has already begun selling merchandise on its website, including what may be the best minor league hat of the year, in anticipation of the transformation into the Eastern European dumplings that have become a beloved Pennsylvania foodstuff.
Pierogies hold an important place in Keystone State baseball as the Pirates host a pierogi race at home games in which Sauerkraut Saul, Cheese Chester, Jalapeno Hannah, Oliver Onion and Bacon Burt vie for dumpling supremacy
