Q&A: Jimmy Butler Discusses Style, Rio and the Worst Dressed NBA Player

Our friends at Bonobos have partnered with two-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler, who will serve as the company's first brand ambassador. To kick off the partnership, Butler will be featured in the brand’s “Wear No Doubts” campaign, the first official partnership and advertising campaign for the e-commerce-born menswear retailer. I caught up with Butler to ask a few questions about his new adventure.
SI.com: Tell me about your collaboration with Bonobos?
Jimmy Butler: My friend Nick told me about Bonobos and I became a huge fan after discovering the wide variety of sizing that caters to every build, even my athletic build. I have always had a tough time finding clothes that fit me without having to tailor everything. Plus, I don't like shopping and their Guideshops actually make shopping fun. I also share Chicago roots with CEO and Founder Andy Dunn, which was additional motivation. Go Bulls! Bonobos makes it a breeze to dress myself and keep stylish off the court. Right now for fall, I plan to live in their Printed Button Downs and Top Coat. I'm glad to have the blazers, which I wear like a jacket. They make it easy to look fresh for pretty much any occasion.
SI.com: Which NBA player do you most look up to, or want to be like, as far as style and fashion?
Butler: To be honest, I can't call out anyone specific. I like my style and I don't really pay attention to everyone else's wardrobes.
SI.com: Which NBA player has the worst fashion (now that Tim Duncan is retired)?
Butler: Tony Snell, by far. He's the only person I know that wears basketball shorts under his jeans.
SI.com: Will we ever see Jimmy Butler with a beard? Can you grow one like James Harden if you wanted?
Butler: There is no way I would be able to grow facial hair like that! James' beard is one-of-a-kind and I don't think I could pull that off, even if I wanted to.
SI.com: I read about the original Dream Team and how Larry Bird and Patrick Ewing became best friends in Barcelona. Now that Rio is over, was there one player from Team USA you got particularly close to?
Butler: DeAndre Jordan. We have the same Houston roots. Even though I'm technically from Tomball, Texas, I'll claim Houston this one time and rock with DJ!
SI.com: Are you a fan of super teams? Would you join one if it meant leaving Chicago before capturing a title for that city?
Butler: I don't get to involved with that stuff, I just want to win a championship, and while I'm here in Chicago that's the only team I'm focused on capturing a title for.
7. Give me a prediction—which two teams make the Super Bowl this year and who wins?
Butler: Broncos and Steelers—one will win the AFC championship and the NFL will call that the Super Bowl.
