Watch: Lonzo Ball’s dad firmly guarantees UCLA will win the national title

Dad, stop it!

It’s nice to be Lonzo Ball right now, what with the NBA on the horizon, and starring on a thus-far undefeated UCLA team.

The blue-chip Bruins point guard has been one of the early stars of the college season.

Then again, sometimes you wonder. And Ball’s dad LaVar decided to amplify the spotlight a little bit last night by guaranteeing — guaranteeing — on a nationally televised in-game interview with ESPN’s Jeff Goodman — that the Bruins are going to win the title.

Dads are going to be dads. Can’t blame him for supporting his kid. But I don’t think I’d want my dad bragging on NPR or something about how all my articles on Extra Mustard are the best and funniest on the entire internet. I think I’d probably feel pretty embarrassed.

Lonzo has two younger brothers, LiAngelo and LaMelo, and they’re both going to UCLA for college in the next few years, so we should probably get ready for some more bold guarantees.
