George Papas

George Papas is a junior guard for Monmouth who averaged 2.7 points per game last year and entered Friday’s game at Kansas averaging 5.5 points. He was trending on Twitter last night and through Saturday morning until college football kicked off. There are two ways a little-known guard from the MAAC is trending nationally: Papas went off in a stunning Monmouth upset (nope, they trailed 26-4 nine minutes into the game and lost by 55 points), or he did something stupid and/or entertaining.

George Papas did something very stupid and/or entertaining.

If the dunk and technical-earning “I don’t give a f---!” wasn’t amusing enough, Bill Self actually mocked his own player, freshman Tristan Enaruna, for allowing Papas to have his moment:

“We've been on Tristan the whole time about being casual, and that's a prime example of what happens when you're casual. I told the team afterwards he may be on ESPN twice for two dunks: One on him and one he got."

Rabies in Starkville

On Saturday morning, hours before Mississippi State was scheduled to host Alabama at Davis Wade Stadium, the public address announcer made quite the announcement:

Is Manu Ginobili available?

Do you remember...

Oklahoma State was No. 2 in the 2011 BCS Standings entering their Nov. 18 game at Iowa State. The Cowboys, one of two remaining undefeated Power Five teams, needed to win out to guarantee a shot at their first national championship since 1945.

Tied with the Cyclones, 24-24, with one minute remaining, Quinn Sharp missed a 37-yard field goal, which led to two overtimes, an eventual Iowa State win, and Oklahoma State finishing No. 3 in the final BCS Standings.

Here are more than 30 plays from the last 15 years that knocked teams out of playoff or national championship contention.

Dumb. Sign.

Desperate Times…

Call for desperate measures. Michigan State is 4-5 this season and 11-11 over the last two seasons. Maybe using pee-wee football tactics will work?
