Classy Chiefs Fans Raise Over $80K for Jason Kelce’s Charity
As Chiefs fans continue their celebration of Kansas City’s win against the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, they are also making a difference in lives of Philadelphia public school students by way of Eagles center Jason Kelce’s charitable organization.
Jason, the older brother to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is the founder of the Be Philly Foundation, an organization that aims to provide financial support and increased visibility to improve the education and economic outcomes for public school students in the City of Brotherly Love.
After the Eagles’ 38–35 loss in the battle for the Lombardi Trophy, the Chiefs Kingdom Memes account on Twitter encouraged fans to donate $14.90 to Jason’s charity. The allotted outcome derived from adding up the jersey numbers of the brothers (with zeroes added to the end)—Jason ($6.20) and Travis ($8.70)—to reach the monetary value.
In October, Jason set a desired goal for the foundation to reach $100,000. On Monday, a day after the Super Bowl, Jason’s foundation had accumulated $10,000 in donations, according to KMBC-TV in Kansas City.
However, by Wednesday evening, KMBC reported that Be Philly had raised more than $96,000 in donations, many from the hearts of Kansas City fans. While Jason and the Eagles did not end the 2022 campaign with a Super Bowl win, the Philadelphia center is still doing his best to give back to his community with a layer of thoughtfulness and generosity from Chiefs fans.
