White House Says It Has Invited Georgia Football Team to Celebrate National Title

It appears as though the national champion Georgia football team has been invited to the White House to celebrate its 15–0 campaign this past season. However, there appears to be some confusion regarding the invitation.

On Wednesday night, a White House official told the Athens Banner-Herald“The President looks forward to welcoming the Georgia Bulldogs to the White House.”

But that same night, a Bulldogs spokesperson told the Banner-Herald, “We have not heard from the White House at this point.”

It’s unclear as of Thursday morning whether Georgia hasn’t been contacted by the White House yet, but Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson took to Twitter on Monday and lamented the team’s lack of an invitation to that point while also tagging President Biden.

The NBA’s Warriors and MLB’s Braves both visited the White House in recent months to celebrate championship seasons. However, Georgia did not visit the nation’s capital for its 2021 national championship due to COVID-19 restrictions. Likewise, the 2021-22 Kansas basketball team also didn’t visit the White House.
