Hurricanes Wore Hartford Whalers Uniforms, and NHL Fans Loved It

In this story:
The Carolina Hurricanes paid homage to their history and previous NHL iteration, the Hartford Whalers, by wearing throwback uniforms in their game against the Bruins on Sunday.
The franchise was first known as the New England Whalers during its stint in the World Hockey Association from 1972–79. It became the Hartford Whalers upon joining the NHL in 1979 and kept the moniker until ’97, when it was moved to North Carolina.
The Whalers’ jerseys were green and navy blue, so the ‘Canes made a big jump when switching the color scheme to red and black.
The Hurricanes wear the iconic green Whalers jerseys almost every year now, and fans seem to always love the nostalgia associated with the old sweaters. The team also featured the Whalers’ signature song, “Brass Bonanza,” during Sunday’s game at PNC Arena in Raleigh. Unfortunately for Canes fans, Carolina lost, 4–3, to the Bruins.
Here are some of the best fan reactions on social media in regard to the Whalers throwback jerseys.

Last year it was Antti Raanta that got to showcase his sweet Whalers setup, but this time around, it's Frederik Andersen's turn. 🤩🎺 pic.twitter.com/sAStJxQ0eu
