Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright Sings National Anthem to Open Final Season

Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright kicked off MLB’s 2023 Opening Day with pure fire, despite the fact he wasn’t playing against the Blue Jays.

Wainwright, who was unable to make his sixth Opening Day start of his career due to a groin injury, shocked everyone with a sensational rendition of the national anthem.

The veteran pitcher who is playing his 18th and final season, was placed on the IR on Thursday. Wainwright, suffered the injury during a workout with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.

Injury or not, the 41-year-old was still able to treat fans with his voice before the first pitch of the afternoon.

Even if St. Louis fails to earn a win on opening day against the Toronto, Wainwright gave all MLB fans a moment to remember with an incredible performance delivered with his voice as opposed to his stellar right arm.

Wainwright has compiled a 195–117 record in his career with a solid 3.38 ERA since breaking into the majors back in 2005. In his place on Thursday, the Cardinals handed the ball to Miles Mikolas for the club’s season opener.
