Pete Alonso Shaves Mustache, Homers Twice Following Mets’ Brutal Losses

The Mets’ Pete Alonso will likely never wear a mustache again in his life.

Alonso, who previously shaved his mustache mid-game back in 2019, decided to go clean shaven prior to Wednesday’s tilt with Milwaukee.

The star slugger entered Wednesday’s game against the Brewers mired in a 0-for-11 slump that witnessed his batting average dip to a paltry .136. On top of it, his team lost its first two games against Milwaukee by a combined score of 19–0.

After some terrible at-bats over the last several games, Alonso decided to ditch the facial hair—this time prior to first pitch.

The attempt to change his fortunes at the plate paid off in the top of the third inning when the 2019 MLB home run leader (53) sent the first pitch of his at-bat against Corbin Burnes over the right field wall.

The two-run blast, Alonso’s second home run of the season, tied the game at 4–4.

During SNY’s telecast, former two-time World Series champion (and famed mustache wearer) Keith Hernandez stated the quiet part out loud: “I guarantee you right now, that mustache is not coming back”.

Two innings later, Alonso drove a low offspeed pitch over the wall in left center field for his second home run of the day, giving the Mets a 6–4 lead.

Pete Alonso shaved the mustache and proceeded to go yard twice.

We all know athletes are very superstitious.

It's safe to assume, facial hair is a thing of the past for the Polar Bear.
