MLB Bans Atlanta Braves’ Big Hat Home Run Celebration

The Braves’ home run celebration is expected to change after MLB banned the use of the oversized baseball cap the team had been using in the dugout to celebrate dingers.

At the beginning of the season, a fan tossed the big hat with the Braves logo on it from More Than Sports in Atlanta’s dugout, and the team decided to start a new tradition. But fans noticed the team hadn’t been wearing the big hat in the past few games.

Now, the celebration has come to an end after New Era Company reached out to MLB saying that the use of a different brand’s hat violated their exclusive contract with the league. More Than Sports’s Twitter account posted this message on Tuesday night.

The big hats became a phenomenon around the sports world over the past few months after Commanders running back Brian Robinson sported one after a game in November.

Here’s a video of Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies participating in the home run festivities a few weeks ago.
