Scottie Pippen Follows Up Michael Jordan Criticism With Brash Instagram Post

Scottie Pippen made his disdain for Michael Jordan known, once again, over the weekend on the heels of his latest scathing remarks critiquing the legacy of his iconic Bulls teammate.

In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, Pippen took a moment to congratulate himself with a recap of his journey to becoming one of the greatest NBA players of all time. While the post may’ve appeared harmless, the timing suggests it was anything but, considering Pippen—the No. 5 pick in 1987—recently claimed Jordan was a “horrible player” before he arrived in Chicago.

“From humble beginnings to 6 championships, 2 gold medals, Hall of Fame, and leading the Bulls franchise with the most playoff wins. Here’s to the unsung heroes… Cheers!” Pippen wrote in a caption, alongside a picture of his younger self.

Pippen’s “unsung hero” jab seems to be another not-so-subtle reference to his stance on Jordan’s legacy. Pippen’s beef with MJ has picked up in intensity in recent years, most notably in 2021 when he voiced his disapproval of the six-time NBA champions’ portrayals in ESPN’s documentary, The Last Dance.

During a May 26 appearance on ex-Bulls teammate Stacey King’s podcast, Pippen jumped on another chance to take aim at MJ by saying LeBron James will be the “greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball” when he retires. He then besmirched Jordan’s first three NBA seasons while discussing their iconic run.

“I seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls. You guys seen him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one, he’s shooting bad shots and, all of a sudden, we become a team and we start winning, everybody forgot who he was,” he said.

Needless to say, Pippen has made it clear there’s no love lost between him and MJ, making it likely that his most recent smear campaign won’t be his last.
