Sports World Was Dazzled by Fantastic French Open Women’s Final

Iga Świątek earned her fourth Grand Slam title on Saturday, holding off Karolína Muchová 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 in the French Open final. Her third title in Roland Garros, it was also the first time she won a major title that went to three sets, as she won the previous three in straight sets.

As it seemed like Świątek was going to cruise to a win, Muchová fought back winning six of the final 10 games in the second set and taking a 2–0 lead to start the third, However, Świątek dug deep to hold off Muchová, winning the final game on a break point.

Therefore, the resulting French Open final was a classic, and fans were impressed by Świątek’s resilience throughout.

Now the winner in three of the last four French Opens, Świątek has put herself in elite company, on a path similar to other tennis greats.

Muchová, meanwhile, had a great showing against the No. 1 player in the world in her first major final match, showing that she belongs on this stage.
