LIV Golf Takes Things Back to 2012 With Weird Pre-Tournament Flash Mob

This is one way to make golf more exciting.

When LIV Golf first formed, it promised to make the sport of golf louder and more exciting. Apparently, LIV’s idea of that is using a viral trend from a decade ago.

Before golfers teed off at the LIV Golf Invitational London on Friday, the tour presented a flash mob to spectators, using the song “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO. Once it hit social media, golf fans joked about LIV’s decision to use this particular trend, considering flash mobs peaked in the mid-2010s.

Even the song the mob used is a little outdated, as “Party Rock Anthem” was a chart-topping hit all the way back in 2011. In fact, the duo LMFAO hasn’t even been active since ’12, when they announced a hiatus, and haven’t reunited since.

Nonetheless, it is fair to say that the PGA Tour would not use a flash mob in anyway, so LIV does have that on them. If LIV is using these trends chronologically, watch out for the next tournament when they might play Gangnam Style.
