Tennis World Reacts to Alcaraz-Djokovic Five-Set Thriller in Wimbledon Men’s Final

The sports world absolutely loved the Wimbledon men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic on Saturday.

The Spaniard ended up winning the nearly five-hour, five-set match. Alcaraz secured his second Grand Slam title, his first coming from last year’s U.S. Open.

Various tennis stars posted congratulatory messages to the 20-year-old, starting with fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal. The 22-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t played since January’s Australian Open, but his message was seen as somewhat of a passing-the-baton moment.

“Congratulations @carlosalcaraz,” Nadal wrote, via Twitter translate. “You have given us immense joy today and I am sure that our pioneer in Spanish tennis, Manolo Santana, has also been cheering wherever he is, such as Wimbledon whom you have joined today. A very strong hug and enjoy the moment, Champion!!!”

Other tennis stars, such as Naomi Osaka, Nick Kyrgios, Victoria Azarenka and Andy Roddick, tweeted messages.

The congratulatory messages are expected to keep coming for Alcaraz.
