Tom Brady Shares Message for USWNT as Team Begins Pursuit of ‘Three-Peat’

The USWNT began their quest to win a third straight Women’s World Cup with a 3–0 win over Vietnam in group play. Before their victory, the women got a message from someone who knows a little something about winning, former NFL quarterback and soon-to-be Fox analyst Tom Brady.

“Team USA is gearing up to do something I was never able to pull off, a three-peat,” Brady said in a video. “I just wanted to give a shoutout to our squad as they go for a third straight World Cup. We’re all back here watching, cheering for you guys at home.”

Three-peating in professional sports is so difficult that even Brady can’t say that he did it. The Lakers remain the last team to pull off the feat in American team sports, doing so between 2000 and ’02.

Of course, Brady did win back-to-back Super Bowl titles with the Patriots in 2004 and ’05, and his seven titles is the most among individual players in NFL history. However, sustaining that success over that long a stretch is so tough, which is why a USWNT three-peat would be so impressive.
