Cubs OF’s Sweet Grand Slam-Robbing Catch had MLB Fans in Awe

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki made quite the web gem Tuesday night in a matchup with their crosstown rival White Sox.

In the seventh inning, White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada blasted a ball to right field with the bases loaded and nobody out. But Suzuki tracked back to make an outstanding catch, reaching over the wall to bring back what would have been a grand slam and turning instead into a harmless sacrifice fly. And while the Cubs did hold a six-run edge at the time, Suzuki’s catch certainly made what ended in a 7–3 victory for the Cubs a bit more secure.

Fans were in awe of Suzuki’s heroics in right. 

The catch helped the Cubs win their fourth straight game and seventh of their last 10 as they inch towards .500. Chicago is still six games behind the Brewers for the National League Central lead, but are within striking distance during what was expected to be a rebuilding year at Wrigley. 

Meanwhile, it was another depressing moment in a year full of them for the lowly White Sox, who dropped to 20 games under .500 on the year.
