Deion Sanders Feeds Travis Hunter Hype Train After Tremendous First Half

It didn’t take long for Deion Sanders and his Colorado team to silence doubters—at least momentarily—after the Buffaloes put together an impressive first half and taking a 17-14 lead into the locker room against TCU.

Colorado went 1-11 last season, but with a new coach running the show in Sanders, the Buffaloes have played well against the No. 17 Horned Frogs, who reached the CFP national championship game last season.

A big reason for the Buffaloes’ success was the stellar performance from two-way star Travis Hunter. The Jackson State transfer played a total of 65 snaps in the first half for Colorado, making his presence felt on both sides of the ball.

Despite failing to catch two deep-ball opportunities in the first half, Sanders made a bold statement about Hunter during a halftime interview with Jenny Taft of Fox Sports.

“He is him,” Deion Sanders said. “We missed him on two deep balls. [If] he gets those two deep balls, the Heisman is at his crib chillin’ right now,” Sanders said of Hunter.

Hunter, one of five players from the Pac-12 listed on the 2023 preseason All-America first team, carried that momentum into the second half when he came up with an impressive interception in the red zone.

Although it’s only the first game of the ’23 season, Hunter is making a case that he should be considered among the top players in college football.
