GolfThreads: Adidas USA Golf Collection
The 10-piece USA GOLF Collection combines adidas’ key products with an all-American colorway and includes everything from polos and pullovers to shorts, belts and hats. In addition to celebrating the American spirit, the collection also provides a preview for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. adidas was renamed as the official uniform provider of USA GOLF and this new collection is the start of the design process for the 2020 uniforms.
“We really enjoy designing pieces like this because we know how excited people get to wear them,” said Dylan Moore, creative director for adidas Golf. “It’s a perfect way to blend style and technology, and it’s no secret that once Memorial Day comes around, golfers are looking for those patriotic pieces to make a statement on the course.”
The range of polos features four distinct styles of adidas’ new Ultimate365 Polo, which has been a go-to for Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm. With stretch, breathability, UPF50+ sun protection and a consistent fit, the Ultimate365 puts a high-tech spin on an essential piece in every golfer’s wardrobe. The designs in the USA Golf Collection give golfers the option of playing it conservative with basic solids and subtle textures or dialing up their outfits with a sporty colorblocked design and wide rugby-style stripes. Contrasting buttons and plackets and tipped collars add extra splashes of color throughout.
The Ultimate365 Polo was built on the success of the brand’s Ultimate bottoms and the USA GOLF Collection brings a new style to the mix in the form of a technical gingham short. The small checked design offers a sophisticated, yet sporty aesthetic and pairs best with a solid colored polo. This short has the performance features to take on the heat and humidity of summer. The moisture-wicking fabric provides breathability and a full range of motion, while silicone grip tape helps keep shirt tails tucked in.
Lighter weight materials are not only a smart summer move for polos and shorts, but also for belts. This is the perfect time of the year to trade those heavy leather straps for lighter options. Recognizing this, adidas included canvas and polyester woven belts in the USA GOLF Collection. The bold designs can find a home on the course or at a Fourth of July celebration.
Completing the collection are two hats which pair nicely with the range of polos. The Heather Printed Crestable Hat has a soft texture, pre-curved brim and snapback closure. For a more colorful approach, the Colorblock Crestable Hat is the way to go. The tri-color design puts a retro twist on a modern style.
