Brooks Koepka Consulted Michael Jordan Before Participating in Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’

Season 1 of Netflix’s Full Swing followed Brooks Koepka through one of the darkest periods of his career. Viewers watched as the former world No. 1 struggled to find form during a seemingly inescapable slump. Since the show’s release, the LIV golfer has been vocal about how his episode didn’t necessarily paint the “full picture” of what he was battling at the time—most notably, his lingering knee injury.
But in a recent podcast appearance on BS w/ Jake Paul, Koepka addressed the documentary series again, and he seems to have a more holistic view of his portrayal. Speaking to the professional boxer and YouTuber ahead of LIV’s team championship in Miami, Koepka explained that he understands why producers couldn’t include certain details in the episode.
“They don’t capture everything, but it’s still pretty cool to see what happens behind the scenes,” Koepka said. “It’s tough, right. When you live it, certain things, you’re like, that would be really cool to put in. But it just doesn’t make the cut. I get why they leave some of the stuff off. You gotta make it entertaining for some people.”
Later in in the interview, Koepka also admitted that he consulted with Michael Jordan before officially signing on to be a part of Full Swing. The Last Dance, which chronicles Jordan’s rise to stardom in the 1990s, was also produced by Netflix. Koepka is a member of Jordan’s private golf club in Jupiter, Fla., The Grove XXIII, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that he has an open line of communication with the GOAT.

“I remember asking Michael Jordan about that Last Dance thing, because I wasn’t sure whether or not I wanted to do Netflix back when it was starting,” Koepka said. “So I asked him a question, he’s like, ‘It’s the best thing I ever did.’ Because you’ll never get those moments back and there’s nothing wrong with capturing the content too. Right? That’s another thing. You might be able to use that 20 years from now.”
Jordan’s words were clearly convincing.
Koepka also half-heartedly agreed to fight his former rival and fellow LIV golfer, Bryson DeChambeau during the podcast episode. Paul proposed a boxing match between the two, offering up a $1 million purse for each fighter.
“We can make something happen,” Koepka said.
We can only hope the Netflix cameras will be back in full force if that match-up were to ever take place.
