Brooks Koepka Slipped a Subtle Troll Into the End of His U.S. Open Press Conference

Brooks Koepka made one thing clear during his press conference on Tuesday at the U.S. Open: He wants to stay above the off-course noise this week.
In the wake of the proposed PGA Tour and LIV Golf alliance, Koepka—now a five-time major champion following his PGA Championship victory last month—is just trying to focus on his golf, as he usually claims.
“I haven't paid too much attention to it, honestly. I've been trying to prep for this week. I'm just trying to make sure I come into a major championship—there's four weeks a year I really care about and this is one of them, and I want to play well,” Koepka said.
Koepka has never been one to let the drama surrounding the game impact him. At last year’s U.S. Open, he criticized reporters for throwing a “black cloud” over the championship by inquiring about LIV Golf. Just one week later, he left to join the start-up league.
As locked in as Koepka seemed at LACC, however, he couldn’t leave the interview area at Los Angeles Country Club without making a subtle jab about the potential of LIV golfers returning to the PGA Tour.

Koepka will not in fact be seeing the media at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship next week, and even Golf Channel made sure to remind people of that immediately after it aired.
Brooks Koepka ending his press conference by saying “See you next week at the Travelers” tickled me.
