Jon Rahm Jokingly Tallies Score After Ridiculous Par Save

Jon Rahm might be ten strokes behind the current FedEx St. Jude Championship leader Lucas Glover, but he still managed to create some fireworks at TPC Southwind on Friday afternoon.

On the 18th hole, Rahm reacted to his tee shot with pure disgust. The Spaniard’s ball splashed directly into the hazard that lines the left side of the 441-yard par-4.

The error didn’t leave the Masters champion many options for his third shot, as he had to drop off the side of one of the hole’s forward tee boxes.

But Rahm got creative and hit a sweeping rope hook over the water and around the trees from 249 yards. To the Golf Channel analysts’ surprise, Rahm somehow reached the greenside bunker.

Rahm was suddenly faced with a short-sided bunker shot to save par, but to no one’s surprise, the world No. 3 navigated it expertly. Rahm played the delicate shot with immaculate touch and holed out for par.

The entire sequence of events was ridiculous, but Rahm’s animated reaction to his hole-out summed it up perfectly. Rahm turned around to his caddie and began counting his strokes on the hole, using hand gestures to recall the unconventional series of shots.

Needing an extra second to tally up a score at the end of a hole is a practice every golfer can relate to. But Rahm’s ability to quickly turn a wayward tee shot into a highlight reel? Not so much.
