The Surprising Meaning Behind Every Number Worn by Caddies at the Masters

The 2023 Masters is under way and this year’s tournament has all the makings of being a special one thanks to all the juicy storylines.
The tournament is full of cool traditions, including one that flies a bit under the radar: the numbers caddies wear on the front of their white jumpsuits. Like everything at the Masters, there’s meaning behind the digits.
The No. 1 goes to the defending champion’s caddie. The rest of the numbers are distributed in order of when each golfer registered for the tournament at the start of the week.

Amateurs Matthew McClean and Aldrich Potgieter’s caddies received Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, behind defending champion Scottie Scheffler. Two other amateurs also received top 10 numbers, and who can blame them for wanting to check in as soon as possible? Talk about a dream week in golf paradise.
