U.S. Open defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick is off to an electric start on Friday at LACC. At the par-3 15th hole, which already saw two hole in ones on Thursday, the Englishman drained his wedge shot from just 115 yards.

The only problem with the perfect shot was that Fitzpatrick looked down at his club the moment that his ball dropped into the cup.

The 2022 U.S. Open winner only realized he’d aced the short par-3 when the crowd roar made it more than obvious.

Fitzpatrick immediately shouted in elation and high-fived his playing partners when he realized what he’d just done, and the result created an amazing highlight.

Fitzpatrick shot a 1-over-par 71 for Round 1 and the ace is the first of his career on the PGA Tour.

Over the weekend, the par-3 15th could play a short as 78 yards, which would make it the shortest hole in U.S. Open history.
