Michael Block Offered Massive Price for Club He Used on Ace at PGA Championship

Michael Block’s performance was one of the highlights of the recent PGA Championship at Oak Hill, as the club pro finished in a tie for 15th place. Block’s fairy-tale story peaked when he made a hole in one on the par-3 15th, landing the ball directly in the hole without hitting any part of the green.

Block used a TaylorMade 7-iron to record the ace, and that club is now a coveted commodity. Block claims to have received an offer for $50,000 for the club, although he hasn’t sold it yet. He is committed to play in a few more tournaments, starting with this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas.

However, Block joked that he can’t believe the offer he got for the club.

"I've had a couple different offers actually. It's crazy, right?" he said Tuesday in a press conference. "I've had a couple different offers, and the initial response was it was $50,000 and I'd hand deliver it. Kind of kiddingly, but I guess not really anymore."

Besides any financial offers for the 7-iron, the PGA of America also wants to display the club at its new headquarters in Frisco, Texas. For now, though, he will keep using it to try and keep the magic going.

Block acquired this set of irons in 2013, and although he said he likes TaylorMade’s newer models, he’s been too comfortable with his current set to change. After nailing an ace at a major championship Sunday, Block may not consider getting new irons again.
